Mrs. E. A. Carey
Funeral services for Mrs. E.A. Carey were held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon at two o’clock, with the Rev. Arthur F. Schuldt officiating. Burial was in an Estherville cemetery with the Foy Funeral home in charge.

Lottie E. Carey, daughter of John and Dora Osborn, was born Sept. 12, 1881, at Lebanon, Ohio, and passed away on Sept. 29, 1943, at the Emmetsburg hospital at the age of 62 years and 17 days. She came to Estherville, Iowa, with her parents in 1891, and on Nov. 23, 1899, she was married to E.A. Carey.

Nine children were born to this union, six boys and three girls: Mrs. Mae Campbell of Emmetsburg; Wilson Carey, Osgood; Edmond of Estherville; Leslie of Osgood; Mrs. Alice Solyers of Boone; Arnold of Gruver; Clarence and Orville, serving in the armed forces and Jessie Elizabeth who passed away in infancy.

Also surviving are ten grandchildren and one great grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Jessie Drake of Cedar Rapids, Ia., and four brothers, Clarence Osborn of Grants Pass, Ore., James M. of Goodman, Mo., Harry of Columbia City, Ind., and Carroll C. of Portland, Ore., in addition to several nieces and nephews.

Mr. and Mrs. Carey have been residents of the Emmetsburg community for the past few years, residing on a farm near here.

The deceased was a devoted wife and mother and was respected and loved by all who knew her. Her life was spent in doing good for all those around her. Her passing leaves a vacant spot which can never be replaced. (Reporter, Emmetsburg, IA, October 7, 1943)
