Ex Gruver Man Dies
Lester C. Bush, 53, Scotts City, Kan., died at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, from a cerebral hemorrhage.

He was born July 4, 1918, in Winchester, Kan., to Mr. and Mrs. John Bush. He moved with his family to the Gruver area at the age of two. He was graduated from the Gruver High School in 1936 and Estherville Junior College. In 1940 he entered the Air Force and was a flight instructor for 9 ½ years. Following his service discharge he entered the University of Iowa and was graduated in 1952. He went to Scotts City, Kan., and was manager of an airport for the past 19 years.

On June 20, 1942, he was married to Janis Anderson of Estherville.

On Aug. 26, 1966, he was married to Juanita Gay at Albuquerque, N.M.

He was a member of the Elks I.S.I.S. Temple of Salina, Kan., and the North Star Lodge of Estherville, a life member of the VFW, a member of the American Legion, a member of the Airport Owner and Pilot Association and vice president of the Kansas Aerial Applicators Association.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Jerald (Patricia) Phipps, Cherokee; three grandchildren, Nancy, James and David; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bush of Estherville; one sister, Mrs. Lester (Marlys Sally) Huisman, Wellsburg; one brother, Lawrence of Corpus Christi, Tex.; one niece, Peggy Huisman; and one nephew, Mike.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita, and one brother, Marcus. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 27, 1971)
