A.C. Brown received a telephone message Monday night announcing the sudden and unexpected death of his mother at her home at Humboldt. She was an old lady but had been in usual health and the announcement of her death came as a great shock to the family here. Mr. Brown left on the Tuesday morning train for Humboldt to arrange for the funeral which will be held Thursday. Mrs. Brown and the children went down on the evening train. Passed Away
Rosanna Leedy was born in Richland County, Ohio, March 29th, 1826.

She was united in marriage to Wade H. Brown on October 6th, 1851. They removed from Ohio to Pierceton, Indiana in 1852, where they resided until 1870, when they removed to Humboldt County, Iowa.

She is survived by five children, Sarah L. Hawkins and Elizabeth M. Emory of Dakota City, Iowa, William O. Brown of Rolfe, Ariel C. Brown of Estherville, John L. Brown of Eagle Grove, Iowa, fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

She was a charter member of the Presbyterian Church at Pierceton, Indiana and was a member of the Congregation Church of Humboldt, at the time of her death. Her husband preceded her in death January 26th, 1906.

Mrs. Brown passed through the experiences incident to pioneer life, first in Indiana and subsequently in Iowa. She had passed four score years, her age being 82 this coming March. She was a schoolmate in her girlhood, of General Sherman and his brother the great senator. She was the only survivor of a large circle of brothers and sisters. She was a woman of strong character and regarded no sacrifice too great for her household. She was a woman of exceptional winsomeness, was widely known and as widely respected and loved.

The funeral was held at the Congregational Church in Humboldt, of which congregation and church she had for many years been a member, Rev. H. D. Herr officiated at the desk and gave a fine eulogy to the departed one and in beautiful language carried the lesson of the occasion to many responsive hearts. A large number of old neighbors and friends were present at the services and followed the remains to Union Cemetery where they were laid to rest.
