Old Pioneer Passes Away
We are again called upon to record the death of another of our old and respected citizens. The death angel this time visited the home of Swend [Svend] Hoff and called him to his rewad last Thursday. He had not been feeling well all summer and three weeks ago was confined to his bed from which he never arose.
Mr. Hoff was a kind hearted man and had a large circle of friends. He was a kind father, a faithful husband and a true and loyal citizen.
The funeral services were held at the Lutheran church at Wallingford conducted by Rev. Sando and interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery at that place.
Swend Hoff was born in Norway, in 1825 and died at his home three miles north of Graettinger Thursday, September 24, 1908, at the age of eighty three years.
The deceased resided in Norway until l1857 when he came to this country and settled in Wisconsin. In 1865 he came to this state and homesteaded the farm on which he lived at the time of his death. His wife died last January. He leaves, besides a number of distant relatives, two children, Torkell and Barbara to mourn his loss. The Times extends sympathy to them.
