T. Hoff, County Pioneer, Passes
Resides on One Farm Near Wallingford 65 Years
Tom Hoff passed away at his home near Wallingford, last Sunday morning after a long illness of dropsy and heart disease. Mr. Hoff was born in Albert Lea, Minn., on Feb. 5, 1861, but had lived on the same farm in Emmet county for 65 years, coming to the farm in High Lake township in 1865 with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sven Hoff. Mr. Hoff and his sister Miss Barbro Hoff have resided on the farm since the death of their parents 21 years ago.

Funeral services were held at the Wallingford church Tuesday afternoon at one-thirty and the body laid to rest in the nearby cemetery. Rev. Peder Nordsletten of Wallingford was in charge of the service. The pallbearers were Martin Myhre, Jorgen Anderson, A.C. Jacobson, Elmer Olson, Sam Gunderson, and P.S. Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. S.O. Lundy of Estherville sang two duets with Mrs. Magnus Wolden accompanying.

Relatives from a distance who were present at the funeral were: M.T. Hoff, Madison, Minn.; H.H. Larson, Twin Lake, Minn.; L.H. Larson, O.H. Larson, Harry Larson, Emmons, Minn.; H. Larson, Wildrose, N.D. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, January 15, 1930)

Tom Hoff of Wallingford Dies
Wallingford, Jan. 14 – Tom Hoff of this town passed away Sunday morning at his home from dropsy. The funeral services were held Tuesday. He had made his home with his sister, Barbra. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, January 16, 1930)

Tom Hoff, baptized Torkel Hoff, was born Feb. 5, 1861, at Albert Lea, Minn. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Sven Huff.

As a 4 year old boy he came to High Lake township in Emmet county with his parents in 1885. He has lived here ever since. By hard work he accumulated considerable wealth.

Mr. Hoff died Sunday, Jan 12 from dropsy and heart failure.

One of his parents died in 1907 and the other in 1908. Since then Mr. Hoff, with his sister have lived on the old home place. His sister, Miss Barbara Hoff, is his nearest survivor.

Funeral rites were held Jan. 14. Bad roads and stormy weather caused many to be absent from the funeral. The Rev. Peder Nordsletten had charge of the service and used as his text, Romans 6:23. Pallbearers were Martin Myhre, Jorgen Anderson, A.C. Jacobson, Elmer Olson, Sam Gunderson and P.S. Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. S. O. Lundy of Esthrville sang two duets. Mrs. Magnus Wolden accompanied the singers.

Distant relatives present were M. T. Hoff of Madison, Minn., H. H. Larson of Twin Lakes, Minn., H. Larson of Wilrose, N.D., and L. H. Larson, O.H. Larson, and Harry Larson of Emmons, Minn. (Estherville News, Estherville, IA, January 23, 1930)
