William Behrens Services Monday
William Behrens, 85, Estherville, died Friday [September 11, 1970] at Holy Family Hospital. Arrangements are [pending] with Reese-Henry Funeral Home. William F. Behrens, 85, died Friday morning at the Holy Family Hospital from a lingering illness. He was born May 24, 1885, at Northfield, Cook County, Ill., to Mr. and Mrs. Fredrich Behrens. He received his education at the Northfield, Ill., and Coon Rapids schools.He was married on June 25, 1922, to Cotta Mueller, at Coon Rapids. After their marriage they farmed in the Coon Rapids area until 1950 when they retired and moved to Estherville.
He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors are his wife, Cotta, three sons, Harold Behrens, of Humboldt; Arno Behrens, Waterloo; William F. Behrens, Sioux City; four daughters, Mrs. Ray (Florence) Burns, Peoria, Ill.; Mrs. Bill (Margaret) Hiles, Wallingford; Mrs. Art (Doris) Schultz, Davenport; Mrs. Oliver (Lois) Fillmore, Gulf Breeze, Fla.; fifteen grandchildren, and one brother, Fred Behrens, Mesa, Ariz.
Funeral services are to be held at 2 p.m. this Monday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Rev. W. H. Discher officiating.
Burial is to be at East Side Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Carl Ahrens, Edward Ahrens, Alvin Thomsen, Frank Klingbeil, Hans Hansen and Carl Danielson.
The Reese-Henry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 14, 1970)
