Ford – Mrs. Florence Ford, wife of J. S. Ford, died at the home of Wm. Kane, Friday, August 28th, 1896.
Mrs. Ford was born March 11th, 1844 on ship board on the Atlantic Ocean about five days out from England while her parents were on their way to America. A few years ago she came to Iowa and settled at Grundy Center. May 19th, 1892 she was married to J. S. Ford. They lived at Grundy Center until July 22nd, 1896. They then came to Estherville to reside. After a short illness she died August 28th, 1896, aged 52 years 5 months and 17 days. The funeral was held from the M.E. Church Saturday August 29th, conducted by Rev. H. G. Pittinger. She was interred in Oak Hill Cemetery. The deceased was a member in good standing of the M.E. Church at Grundy Center. She was also a member of the W.C.T.U. and the W.F.M.S. Aside from church and church society which she was also a member of the W.R.C. The deceased was a member of the W.C.T.U. and W.R.C. Funeral services were held fro the M.E. church. (Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, September 3, 1896)
