A Bright Young Life Goes Out
Gruver and vicinity were clothed in sorrow Monday of last week when it was learned that Ethel Andrews had passed away.

Deceased died of typhoid fever, and was the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Andrews. She was born in Swan Lake twp., Emmet county, Aug. 2nd, 1892, and died at her home near Gruver July 29, 1907, being nearly 15 years of age. She leaves a father, mother, Artic and Norman to mourn her departure.

Ethel had been planning to soon make a visit to Waterloo, Ia., but she has gone on another journey from whence no traveller ever returns. She wen happy in the love of Jesus. Just before she died she sang “Jesus Lover of My Soul” and “Be Thou Nigh,” and then bid her loved ones good-bye.

Mr. and Mrs. Andrews are members of the Presbyterian church at Gruver, and although Ethel’s name is not on the church record, she expressed a desire several years ago to become a Christian and her dying testimony showed she had kept the faith ever since.

Ethel was an interested worker in the Sunday School, especially in the singing, in which she took great delight. The school house at Gruver will have a vacant seat at the organ, she having been the school organist.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Presbyterian church in Gruver. Rev. B. S. Greene read a portion of scripture and offered prayer, and Rev. A. C. Droz of the Free Baptist church of Estherville, spoke words of comfort from the text “Wait on the Lord,” Psalms 27:14.

The church and casket were profusely decorated with flowers. Some of the special floral offerings were sent by the Woodman Lodge, Ladies League and Sunday School.

The young ladies acting as pall bearers were Misses Carrie Grems, Lelia Fuller, Nellie Brood, Elizabeth Colt, Lucil Brecht and Sarah Elhers. The Woodman Lodge, of which Mr. Andrews is a member, acted as guard of honor. A long procession of teams followed the remains to the East Side cemetery, where the services were concluded.
