John W. Andrews, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Andrews of Gruver, died at his home in Minneapolis, Minn., Tuesday, July 2 following an illness of many months, age 68 years. John was born at Independence, Iowa, June 7, 1878 and came with his parents to the Swan Lake community when a boy. When a young man he went to Minneapolis to live, being employed in the Dayton department store for many years. He married and established a home in that city. He leaves to mourn his loss his widow, Mrs. Harriett Andrews and three brothers, Harry, Arthur and Norman of Gruver. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, two sisters, Edith and Ethel and two brothers, Ralph and Asa. Funeral services were held at the Mahlum and Anderson funeral chapel Friday afternoon, Rev. T. Chandler Burton conducting the services. Mrs. Burton, accompanied by Rosemary Haywood sang two hymns. The pallbearers were John Irwin, J. H. Merriott, John Smith, Julius Ingebretson, Walter Grems and Fred Robinson. Burial was made in East Side cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Minnick and Mrs. Swanson of Des Moines were here to attend the funeral of John Andrews. The ladies were sisters of Mrs. John Andrews and they accompanied her to her home in Minneapolis Saturday. They were overnight guests in the A. C. Andrews home Friday night.
