C. Anderson Passed Away
Died Friday Following Operation at Iowa City, Ia.; Funeral Services Sunday
Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon for Chris Anderson, 51, who passed away at the University of Iowa hospital at Iowa City Friday [January 10, 1941]. The services were held at the Sternberg Funeral home and at the Union Baptist church with the Rev. G. E. Forssell officiating. Interment was in the Oak Hill [per cemetery records, East Side] cemetery. Six nephews of Mr. Anderson served as pallbearers.Mr. Anderson was taken sick shortly after the holidays and was taken to the hospital at Iowa City. He submitted to an operation from which he never recovered.
Surviving him are his widow and two sons, Lester Anderson and Glen Anderson, both of Estherville. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Mr. Anderson was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa, Nov. 13, 1889. He worked at various trades in and around Cedar Falls and in 1918 moved with his family to a farm near Ringsted. He was married to Miss Esther Hanson, of Fredericksburg, Iowa, in February, 1915. Mr. Anderson and his family moved to Estherville where they have since made their home. For a number of years Mr. Anderson was employed at an oil station. A few years ago he was involved in an accident east of Estherville suffering severe head injuries. He underwent a brain operation at the local hospital and since that time his health has been failing although he was able to be up and around until his recent illness.
