Andrew Anderson Dies at 62
Andrew Harold Anderson, 62, Rock Island trainman for nearly 43 years, died shortly after midnight today at his home, 1703 east Central avenue. He had been ill with cancer since July 9 and became seriously ill Friday.Mr. Anderson has lived in Estherville since he was four years old and began his railroad career at the age of 19. He was a brakeman for 17 years and has been a conductor for the past 25 years.
His first four years were spent in Collington, S.D., [per WWI draft record, Garden City, SD] where he was born March 11, 1889. He married Edna Gertrude Dixon May 1, 1911, in Albert Lea, Minn.
Surviving are his wife, three children, Mrs. Claude Wayson of Jessup, Everett of Concord, Calif., and Roland of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Mrs. Nettie Anderson of Estherville; one brother, Oscar of Burrell, Calif.
Mr. Anderson was a member of the Baptist church and the Order of Railroad Conductors.
