Mike Woods Dies; Rites Wednesday
Michael (Mike) Woods, 91, Emmet County resident for more than 50 years, died Sunday [March 17, 1968] at 4:10 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital. Mr. Woods, who had been in the hospital for the past several weeks, suffered a heart attack there Friday.

Michael Joseph Woods was born April 4, 1876, in Ottawa, Ill., to Michael and Mary Ellen Woods. He received his education in the Ottawa schools.

He was married Jan. 16, 190-, to Rosanna Dominy at Ottawa. Mr. and Mrs. Woods farmed there until 1914, when the moved to a farm in the Gruver area. They continued to farm in that area until 1950 when they retired and moved to Estherville. Mrs. Woods died in 1951.

Mr. Woods was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by two sons, John of Sacramento, Calif., and William of Estherville; three daughters, Mrs. Matt (Marie) Reuland of Superior, Lucille of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Alma of Estherville; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Mary McLachlan and Mrs. Kate Kennedy, both of Ottawa.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Bernard who died in 1928, and three infant children.

Funeral services are to be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, Rt. Rev. Msgr. James H. Duhigg and Rev. James Fangman officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

A Rosary will be said Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the Fuhrman Funeral Home.

Friends may call at the funeral home any time Tuesday and until time of services Wednesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 18, 1968)
