Clarence Francis Welp, 65, of 429 Crimson Drive NE, died Tuesday [September 22, 1981] at St. Luke’s Hospital following a short illness.

Born Oct. 5, 1915, in Terril, he was married to Laurette Lynch Aug. 18, 1937, at Estherville. She died in 1977. Mr. Welp moved to Cedar Rapids from Estherville three years ago. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a retired employee of the Morrell Packing Plant, Estherville. He was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Chruch, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and the United Food and Commercial Workers AFL-CIO P79.

Surviving are a daughter, Janyce Welp Kroll of Spokane, Wash.; one son, Larry Lee of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Marvin of Madelia, Minn., and Hank of Woodward; and a sister, Almiena Baker of Lakewood, Colo.

Services: Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, by the Rev. Albert Grendler. Burial: St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Estherville, with military graveside services. There will be a rosary service by the Rev. Ardel Barta and the Knights of Columbus at 7 tonight at Teahen Funeral Home, where friends may call from 1 to 9 p.m. today.
