Mrs. William Swift Dies; Rites Pending
Mrs. William A. (Mary) Swift, 75, longtime area resident, died at 6 a.m. today at Holy Family Hospital. She had been in failing health for the past year.Funeral services at St. Patrick’s Church in Estherville are pending word for the two sons. The Rev. James H. Duhigg will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery.
Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from tomorrow until time of services.
Mrs. Swift was born April 22, 1885, in Dolliver, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Bagan. She was educated in Dolliver schools. On Sept. 28, 1906, she was married to William A. Swift in Estherville. She lived here all her married life. In 1956 they observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary at their home here.
Mrs. Swift was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, the Catholic Daughters of America and St. Patrick’s Altar and Rosary Society.
She is survived by her husband, three sons. William V. of Burlington, Robert of Baltimore, Md., and Maurice of Yorba Linda, Calif., and seven grandchildren. Also surviving are a sister, Mrs. Gertie Yepsen of Pasadena, Calif., and two brothers, P. J. Bagan of Waterloo and David Bagan of Des Moines. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 2, 1961)
