Estherville Woman is Dead at 46
Mrs. Alvin (Helen Melverda) Thomas, 46, of Estherville died at 2:30 p.m. yesterday at Holy Family hospital from a brain hemorrhage. She was taken to the hospital from her home at 11 a.m.

Mrs. Thomas was born July 8, 1922, at Rimersburg, Pa., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hawk. She received her education in the Rimersburg schools.

She was married April 24, 1948, to Alvin Thomas at Clarion, Pa. After their marriage, the couple moved to Estherville and lived here since that time. Mrs. Thomas had been employed at the Ben Franklin store for a number of years.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic church.

Surviving are her husband, Alvin; four brothers, Oren, Chester, Vaughn, and Jack; and one sister, Lois; all living in Ohio and Pennsylvania; and her parents, also living in Pennsylvania.

Rosary will be at 8 p.m. Friday at Reese-Henry Funeral Chapel in Estherville. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s church, Msgr. James Duhigg officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery. Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Hoe after 9 a.m. Friday and until 9 a.m. on Saturday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 21, 1968)
