Funeral Services Set for Thursday
Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church for Mrs. Florence B. Swale, 83, Estherville, who died at 7:10 p.m. Sunday [August 2, 1970] at the Proctor Hospital in Peoria, Ill. She was in Peoria, where she suffered a heart attack, visiting her son and had been hospitalized for 25 days.

She was born Sept. 7, 1887, [per cemetery records 1886] at Morton, Minn., to Mr. and Mrs. Mortimore Cook and was educated in the Morton schools. She came to Estherville as a young girl with her parents.

On April 23, 1906, she was married to Clinton Swale at St. Patrick’s Church in Estherville.

She held the oldest membership in St. Patrick’s Church, a member of St. Dominic Circle, a 50-year member of Royal Neighbors Lodge and a charter member of the B of RT Auxiliary.

Survivors include one son, Clinton of East Peoria, Ill.; Five daughters, Mrs. Everett (Eunice) Davis, Estherville, Mrs. Floyd (Florence) Gaspar, Sioux Falls, S.D., Mrs. William (Loretta) Morse of Wheatridge, Colo., Mrs. Eugene (Viviette) Millslagle, Burlington, Colo., Mrs. Henry (Mary Evelyn) Marshall, Washburn; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Cook of Winter Park, Fla., and Father Maurus Cook of Farmingdale, N.Y.

Preceding her in death were her husband, her parents, one grandson, four sisters and one brother.

Rosary will be recited Wednesday at 8 p.m. at Reese-Henry Chapel in Estherville. The funeral Mass will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Maurus Cook officiating and Rev. Ralph Goman assisting. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

Friends may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home until 9 a.m. on Thursday morning. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 4, 1970)
