Lamack Services on Monday
Funeral services for John Henry Lamack, 63, retired farmer, are to be Monday at 2 p.m. at the Reese Funeral Chapel with burial in East Side cemetery. An 11 a.m. family service will be held at the funeral chapel, the Rev. Harley Schmitt will officiate.

Friends may call at Reese Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Saturday until time of services Monday.

Mr. Lamack died Thursday at 7:15 a.m. at St. Mary’s hospital in Rochester, Minn., where he was taken Dec. 26. His death was attributed to a brain tumor. He was first taken ill on Dec. 18 and entered Holy Family Hospital Dec. 22 and was transferred from there to Rochester.

In the 1930’s, he gained recognition in corn-picking circles when he won the corn-picking championship of Jackson County, Minn., and in 1939 he was runner-up in the state championship contest.

For many years Mr. Lamack had been Estherville bowling league activities and a member of championship teams.

Born Dec. 23 in 1901 at Halbur, Iowa, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Lamack. He received his education in Herrin Lake View and Terril schools.

John Lamack was married Dec. 12, 1925, to Edith Ramsey at Jackson, Minn., and except for two years when Mr. Lamack worked at Rock Falls, Ill., and in Estherville, he and Mrs. Lamack farmed northwest of Estherville near Petersburg until 1960 when they retired from farming and moved to Estherville.

He is survived by his widow; three sons, Maynard, Donald and Arnold, all of Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. James (Loyce) Braband of near Lakefield, Minn., and 10 grandchildren.

A brother, Milo of Torrance, Calif., and four sisters, Mrs. Annie Landgraf of Arnolds Park, Mrs. Leo Cushman of Jackson, Minn., Mrs. Lisle Otto of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs. Ella Neal of Long Beach, Calif., also survive.

Preceding Mr. Lamack in death were an infant daughter, his parents and four brothers. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 8, 1965)
