The Infant Child of Mrs. McFarland, daughter of Geo. Sykes, died Sunday [December 24, 1893] of throat trouble. The babe was only two weeks old. (Emmet County Republican, Estherville, IA, December 28, 1893)

Died - McFarland – a babe sixteen days old of Mr. and Mrs. Albert McFarland. Mrs. McFarland is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Sykes, and a sister of Mrs. W. F. Wratton. Mrs. McFarland resides in South Dakota and came to Estherville last week to visit during the holidays. The babe was taken sick and died on Saturday. The sympathy of all will be with the bereaved parents in their affliction. (Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, December 28, 1893)
