John Scollan one of the old residents of the county, passed away at the home in northeast Superior township Friday after a short illness due to the infirmities of old age. Mr. Scollan, who was a native of Ireland was about 80 years old. Funeral services were held from the Catholic church at Estherville Monday morning. Besides the aged wife he leaves six sons, Frank, Felix and Ed of Sioux Falls, James, John and Peter at home, three daughters, Mrs. Rose Parks of North Dakota, Mrs. Kate Hyde of Sioux Falls and Anna at home, all of whom were expected to be present at the funeral. Obituary of John Scollon
John Scollon was born in Lirnarkia County Firmanagh, Ireland, and died Thursday morning December 3 at the age of 90 years. He resided in this locality 20 years. The deceased leaves to mourn his death, his aged wife and nine children and 7 grandchildren. The children are B. F. Scollon, E. D. Scollon, Mrs. W. G. Hyde, Mrs. Jas. Parks, all of Sioux Falls, S.Dak., Frank of Fulda, Minn.; Jas. John and Peter, Mary A. at home. Those who attended the funeral from a distance were: Peter Scollon, Frank Scollon, Jim Scollon, nephews, all of Lohrville, Iowa; Mrs. Minnie Wilson, of Iowa Falls, S. Dak.; Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Murry, of Fulda, Minn. Funeral services were held in the Catholic church, Rev. Father Conway officiating. Burial was made in the St. Patricks cemetery.
