Mrs. William [John] Scollon is very critically ill at her home north of town. The children have all been called home. Mrs. Scallon is past 80 years old. Due to her age no hope is held for her recovery. Mrs. Katie Hyde of Sioux Falls, S.D., is here assisting in the care of her mother. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, April 21, 1938)

Mrs. Scollan [Scollon], a resident of this community for nearly 40 years, passed away at her home north of town Wednesday [May 11, 1938] after an illness incident to advanced age, she having attained 87 years. Mr. Scollan passed away several years ago. She leaves a family of sons and daughters. Last rites were held Saturday in Estherville from St. Patrick’s church.
