Mrs. Mary Ricke
Breda – Mrs. Mary Ricke, 77, of Estherville, former Breda resident, died about 7 o’clock Tuesday [June 9, 1959] evening. She had been ill since February when she suffered a fractured hip.

Mrs. Ricke, the former Mary Fleege, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Fleege was born March 3, 1882, at Menominee, Ill. She came to Carroll County when a small girl. Her family located on a farm near Breda. She married Anton Ricke at St. Bernard Church. They located on a farm northeast of Breda where they lived for some time before moving to Estherville.

Surviving are three sons, Lawrence, Irwin and Victor Ricke of Estherville; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Theresa) Driscoll, Danbury and Caroline Fleege and a brother George Fleege, Breda; two half-sisters, Mrs. Andrew (Regina) Tegels, Fonda and Celia Wubben, and a half-brother Joe Wubben, Breda.

Her husband and son Clarence, two sisters, Mrs. John (Louisa) Ricke, Mrs. Ben (Anna) Wess and a brother, Clem Fleege preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at the Catholic church at Estherville Friday morning. Relatives from here will attend the rites. (Carroll Daily Times Herald, Carroll, IA, June 11, 1959)

Breda – Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Ricke, 77 were held at St. Patrick’s Church at Estherville at 10 o’clock Friday morning, the Rev. James Duhigg officiating. Burial was in the Catholic Cemetery there.

Relatives and friends attending the rites from this area were Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hausman, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Ricke, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Wess, Mrs. Robert Wieland, Carroll; Louis Woerdehoff, Ben Ricke, Joe and Celia Wubben, George and Caroline Fleege, David Ricke, Mr. and Mrs. Art Schulte, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Heisterkamp, Breda; Mr. and Mrs. George Ricke, Ralph Ricke, Arcadia; Mr. and Mrs. George Wernimont, Auburn.

Mrs. Ricke, former Breda resident, was born March 3, 1882, at Galena, Ill., the daughter of Bernard and Mary Bruning Fleege. The family moved to Breda when she was five years old. She attended St. Bernard School here. She was married to Anton Ricke February 15, 1905, at St. Bernard Church. They farmed in Carroll County until 1935 when they moved to a farm near Gruver. In 1942 they retired and moved to Estherville. Mr. Ricke passed away in 1947.

She is survived by three sons, Lawrence, Irwin and Victor Ricke, Estherville; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Robert Driscoll, Danbury; Caroline Fleege, Breda; one brother, George Fleege, Breda; two half-sisters, Mrs. A. J. Tegels of Fonda; Celia Wubben, Breda; and a half-brother Joe Wubben of Breda.

A son Clarence died in 1936. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Mrs. Louisa Ricke and Mrs. Anna Wess, and a brother, Clem Fleege. (Carroll Daily Times Herald, Carroll, IA, June 17, 1959)
