Mr. and Mrs. T. Ricke took their son, Clarence to Rochester, Minn., last week where he was operated on for a growth which was pressing on the brain. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, December 25, 1935)Former Breda Resident Dies; Funeral Today
Breda – Clarence Ricke passed away very suddenly Sunday [January 19, 1936] morning at the home of his parents near Grover [Gruver], Ia. The young man underwent an operation at Rochester, Minn., several weeks ago for a tumor of the brain and after returning from the hospital he visited relatives here for several days.He was 29 years old and was born on a farm northeast of Breda where he grew to young manhood. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Ricke. After completing school he taught in the rural schools for several years and about 4 years ago moved with his parents to Schaller. Two years ago the family moved to a farm near Gruver.
Surviving are his parents, three brothers, Laurence, Erwin and Victor of Gruver and his grandmother, Mrs. Mary Wuebben of Breda.
Funeral Today
Funeral services will be held at the Catholic church at Estherville at 10 o’clock Tuesday morning with burial in the cemetery there.Mr. and Mrs. Ben Ricke, accompanies by Mr. and Mrs. John Coon of Early left Sunday to attend the funeral.
Relatives who left Monday were Mr. and Mrs. Will Ricke, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Ricke, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schulte, Mr. and Mrs. John Ricke and Joe Wuebben. (Carroll Daily Herald, Carroll, IA, January 21, 1936)
Attend Cousin’s Funeral
Anton Thieleke, V. E. Schirck, Paul Thieleke and Leonard Shirck returned last evening from Estherville where they had attended the funeral services of a cousin, Clarence Ricke,19, who died Sunday morning at his home in Gruver. Mr. Ricke, who submitted to an unusual operation recently at Rochester, Minn., returned home and was thought to be improving satisfactorily when he suddenly became worse and died.
