Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Reardon’s babe died last Saturday evening about seven o’clock. The terrible blow fell with almost crushing weight upon the fond parents whose hearts were wrapped up in their darling child, and it was so hard to give him up. Loving relatives and friends from here and Emmetsburg did everything in their power to assuage the great sorrow, but how feeble is human effort at such a time. No babe probably ever looked sweeter in death than this one did, as it lay in the pretty white coffin surrounded by beautiful flowers sent in by sympathizing friends. The funeral was held at the Catholic church Sunday afternoon. Rev. Father Kelly conducted the solemn exercises in an able manner, and the interment was made in the Catholic cemetery. The pall bearers were Emmetsburg young men who were brought here by special train placed at their disposal by the Burlington company for whom Mr. Reardon works as dispatcher. Their names are Willie Joyce, Lou O’Maora, Jas. Doyle, Geo. Hurley. (Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, August 25, 1892)
