Guy Nicholson Succumbs at 89
Guy Geddas Nicholson, 89, Estherville, died at 1:05 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 1972, at Rosewood Manor for the infirmities of advanced age.

He was born Jan. 10, 1883, at Manson to Mr. and Mrs. George Nicholson and received his education at Manson and Estherville schools.

On April 20, 1920, he was married to Mary A. Kelly. He had lived in Estherville most of his life and was an engineer on the Rock Island Railroad for 42 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Survivors are his wife, Mary, a resident of Rosewood Manor; one son, Don W. Nicholson of Quincey, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Meribel Carges of Nevada; one grandson, Donald Nicholson of Quincey, Ill.; and one sister, Mrs. Lyda Rousseau of Holt, N.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Reese-Henry Chapel at Estherville.

Mass will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Laurence Burns officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery.

Friends may call at Reese-Henry Tuesday until 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Pallbearers will be John Hoffstader, Leo Fitzgibbons, Dan McGee, John Lanning, Joseph Wilson and Ray Taylor. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 18, 1972)
