Mrs. Nicholson Rites Tuesday
Mrs. Mary Amelia Nicholson, 79, Estherville, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 1973 at Holy Family Hospital.Requiem mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick’s Church with the Rev. Laurence Burns officiating. Interment will be made in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 8 pm. today (Monday) at Reese-Henry Chapel, Estherville.
She was born Nov. 8, 1893 at Garner to Mr. and Mrs. Michael Kelly. She received her education in schools at Garner, St. James, Minn., and Estherville. She was married May 21, 1920 to Guy Nicholson at Spirit Lake.
She had moved to St. James with her parents as a young girl and then to Estherville. She had administered the Estherville City Hospital for a time during World War I.
Mrs. Nicholson was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and was active in the Rosary Society, a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary, a member of American Legion Auxiliary, the Service Star Legion and the Degree of Honor.
She was also the first president of Emmet County Retarded Children’s Association.
Survivors include one son, Donald Nicholson, Quincy, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Robert (Meribel) Karges, Nevada, Iowa; one grandson, David Nicholson, Quincy, Ill.; one sister, Mrs. William Sowers, Ames; one brother, Thomas Kelly of Los Angeles, Calif.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers and three sisters.
