Estherville – Funeral services for Henry J. Neppl, 87, Estherville, will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, with Father A. O. Grendler officiating and burial at the church cemetery. An 8 p.m. rosary will be said at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, where friends may call anytime Thursday.

Mr. Neppl, who died at his home Tuesday morning, was born July 14, 1889 at Roselle to Andrew and Mary Neppl and was educated in Mount Carmel schools. On April 28, 1914 he was married to Mary Snyders at Breda. They farmed at Oaks, N.D. until 1917 when they came to Emmet County. They farmed here until 1952 when they retired and moved into Estherville. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1974.

Mr. Neppl was an honorary and a charter member of Council 2021 of the Knights of Columbus, longtime member of the Forest Degree, was director of St. Patrick’s parish for 25 years, was past president of the Elks and Emmet County Farm Bureau and was active in farm groups.

Survivors include four sons, Isidore, Melvin and Earl, Estherville; Gerald, Jacksonville, Ark.; five daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Florence) Christensen, Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Roy (Lorraine) Kirchner, and Mrs. Leonard (Bernice) Bendixen, Estherville; Mrs. Jerome (Ethel) Pohlen, McLean, Va.; Mrs. Roy (Rita) Fox, Bancroft; 39 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife on February 24, 1975, his parents, seven brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 13, 1975)
