John Kriebs Dead
Passed Away at His Home in This City Monday Afternoon
John Kriebs died at his home in this city at 5:20 Monday afternoon after an illness of only five days of pneumonia. He was eighty-three years of age at the time of his death and had resided in Emmet county since 1899; most of the time in Emmet township where he owned several acres of land. He moved to Estherville in the year of 1910 and made his home on east Howard street.Deceased was born at Luxemburg, Germany, May 17th, 1830 [per cemetery stone 1829], being 82 years, 10 months and 14 days of age at the time of his death. He was married May 1861, to Miss Eugene Fumel and they came to this country in May 1885, and located at St. Charles, Minnesota, where he remained until September, 1899, when he came to Emmet County and located on a farm in Emmet township and in 1910 moved to Estherville. Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Kriebs, the mother and nine survive him. Those living are: Joseph Kriebs, residing at St. Paul, August at Marshalltown, J. E. Kriebs at Bellingham, Minn.; Peter at Huntington, Felix and Eugene at Estherville, Mrs. Edward Kirchner, Estherville, Mrs. N. Koenecke, Huntington, and Mrs. M. Clemmon, Dunnell, Minn.
Funeral services will be held at St. Patarick’s church Thursday with services conducted by Rev. J. G. Murtagh. The sympathy of this community is extended to the bereaved wife and children in their hours of profound sorrow. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, April 1, 1913)
