Joseph M. Erpelding, 64, Dies
Joseph Michael Erpelding, 64, area resident since childhood, died yesterday at 4:10 p.m. at his home, 111 S. 3rd St. after a lingering illness. In failing health for the past year and a half, Mr. Erpelding had been confined to his home for several months.
He was born April 7, 1900, at Springbrook, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Erpelding. The family moved to this area while he was a small boy and he received his education in the Gruver and Estherville schools.
Joseph Erpelding and Gladys Seeliger were married Feb. 22, 1933, in St. Patrick’s Church in Estherville and have made their home n Estherville since that time.
Mr. Erpelding had been employed by Dix Bottling Company and in late years by the Estherville Golf and Country Club, Elks Lodge and the Iowa State Liquor Store here.
He was a lifetime member of St. Patrick’s Church.
Surviving his death are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Judy) Bonser of Estherville and Nancy of St. Paul; three grandchildren, Susan, Lori and Douglas Bonser; one brother and one sister, Michael Erpelding and Mrs. Ralph (Hannah) Schacherer, both of Estherville.
Funeral services for Mr. Erpelding are to be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. James H. Duhigg officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery.
A rosary will be recited tonight at 8 o’clock in the Reese Funeral Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today and until 9 a.m. tomorrow when the body will be taken to the church.
