Estherville – Mrs. L. R. (Joe) Chapman, 79, Estherville, passed away Thursday [April 24, 1975] morning at Holy Family Hospital. Funeral services are pending at the Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 24, 1975)

Estherville – Funeral services for Mrs. Leslie R. (Joe) Chapman, 79, Estherville, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Rev. A. O. Grendler officiating and burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. She died early Thursday morning at Holy Family Hospital.

Mrs. Chapman was born May 16, 1895 at Armstrong to Mr. and Mrs. James Bunt. She attended school in Armstrong and was married to Leslie R. Chapman Nov. 11, 1919 in Armstrong. She worked for the Armstrong schools for a number of years before moving to Estherville where she was employed by Holy Family Hospital. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Survivors include her husband, one daughter, Mrs. Chester Brown, Estherville; one son, John Chapman, Cloquet, Minn.; three step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. William Jaskulke, Fairmont, Minn., and Mrs. John Blum, Armstrong.

She was preceded in death by one son, her parents, one brother and two sisters.

Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville, is in charge of arrangements where a rosary will be said at 8 p. m. Friday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 25, 1975)
