Oscar Rugtiv Dies at Home in St. Louis
Oscar Rugtiv, 63, Estherville native and son of the former Mr. and Mrs. George Rugtiv, died at his home in St. Louis early yesterday morning. He had been suffering from a heart disease for a number of years and the ailment was blamed for his death.He was born in Estherville in 1886 [tombstone says 1889] and received his education here. He was a member of the Lutheran church and had been a railroad worker most of his life.
Survivors include his wife in St. Louis, two sisters, Mrs. Herbert Whorley of Estherville, and Mrs. Harold Lough in California; three daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Warwick of St. Louis, Mrs. Roy Hammond of Bemidji, Minn., and Mrs. Dale Limbach of Long Beach, Calif., and four grandchildren, Patricia Warwick, Mrs. Robert Wardel, Robert and Richard Limbach.
One brother preceded him in death.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sternborg funeral chapel and 2:30 p.m. at Estherville Lutheran church, the Rev. L. G. Hinderaker officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 19, 1949)
