Funeral Services for Miss Marian Peterson Sunday
Funeral services for Miss Marian Peterson, daughter of Mrs. Mabel Peterson, were held Sunday at one o’clock at the George Shadle home. Miss Peterson died early Friday morning at the home of her uncle, John Thorson, of Armstrong, where she was recuperating from an appendix operation. Mr. O. F. Manthe, accompanied by his wife on the piano, sang two numbers. The Rev. Arthur Bailey preached the sermon and burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Peterson and daughter have resided in Forest city for the past three years. Marian graduated from the Forest City high school and attended Waldorf college for one year. She enrolled in a hospital for nurses training at Des Moines in September.

Marian was a very sweet girl, loved by everyone who knew her. Many of her friends from Forest City were present at the funeral to pay their last respects. The beautiful and many floral offerings proved of the high esteem in which she was held by her friends.

She is survived by her mother and a host of friends and relatives. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, October 24, 1934)

Miss Peterson Dies Suddenly at Armstrong
Hold Funeral Services at Shadle Home; Burial at Oak Hill Cemetery
Miss Marion person, 19, daughter of Mrs. Mabel Peterson of Forest City, former resident of Estherville, died early Friday morning at 12:30 at the home of her uncle, John Thorson at Armstrong, following an emergency operation. Miss Peterson underwent an appendix operation a short time ago in Minneapolis and was recuperating at her uncle’s home when gangrene set in and another operation was performed.

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 o’clock at the George W. Shadle home. The Rev. Arthur G. Bailey, pastor of the Presbyterian church, officiated at the services. Oran Manthe sang a solo, accompanied by his wife at the piano. Mrs. Leosard Carlson, Miss Ruth Noe and Miss Irene Heyer supervised the floral offerings. Burial was held at Oak Hill cemetery. Pallbearers were Francis Shadle, George Brunskill, Ed Knowles, James Knowles, Raleigh Richardson and Alex Johnston.

Miss Peterson was born in Estherville and lived here practically all her life. Three years ago she moved to Forest City with her mother, who has been employed in a ready to wear store there. She graduated from the Forest City high school and attended the junior college there for one year. Since the first of September she has been taking nurses training in the Lutheran hospital at Des Moines.

She is survived by her mother and is preceded in death by her father. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, October 23, 1934)
