Mrs. Martin Peterson Passed Away at Her Home This Morning
Mrs. Martin Peterson died this morning at two o’clock at her home on East Barnhart Street, death being due to cancer.Martha Johnson Olson was born April 28, 1865, in Fuse Parish Bergen, Norway. At the age of 25 she came to Newark, Ill. Here she married Muns Thompson. To this union the following children were born: Theodore Thompson of Algona, Mr. Knute Thompson of Estherville; Martin O. Thompson of Eagle Grove, S. A. Thompson of Des Moines, Mrs. Joe Larson of Indiana and Mrs. Earl Weiland of this city. They lived for several years in Hancock county where Mr. Thompson died.
In 1900 she came to Emmet County and in 1903 she was unite in marriage to Martin Peterson.
To this union one daughter was born, Mrs. Fred Williams, of Estherville. They resided on a farm between Huntington and Dolliver for a couple of years. In 1910 they moved to Estherville, having resided here since.
Besides her children she is survived by her husband.
The funeral services will be held Saturday at two o’clock from the home on East Barnart Street and at 2:30 from the Estherville Lutheran Church with Rev. Mathre officiating. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, February 8, 1933)
LeRoy Larson attended the funeral of his grandmother, Mrs. Martin Peterson, of Estherville, last Saturday. Mrs. Peterson had been in poor health a long time. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, February 15, 1933)
Mrs. Martin Peterson died at her home on East Barnhart street after a long illness of cancer. She had resided in Emmet county for 32 years coming to American 44 years ago from Norway.
It was as a young woman of 25 that Martha Olson came to Newark, Ill. She was married there to Mons Thompson. They later moved to Hancock county where Mr. Thompson died. In 1900 the widow came to Emmet county and was married here to Martin Peterson in 1903. They resided on a farm between Huntington and Dolliver until 1910, then moved to their present home in Estherville.Mrs. Peterson is survived by six stepchildren, Theo Thompson of Algona, Mrs. K. Thompson of Estherville, Martin O. Thompson of Eagle Grove, S. A. Thompson of Des Moines, Mrs. Joe Larson of Elkhart, Ind., and Mrs. Earl Weinland of Estherville, by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Fred Williams of this city.
Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at two o’clock from the Estherville Lutheran church with Rev. L. A. Mathre in charge.
