Fred Nauss

Fred Nauss, 94, Estherville, Iowa, died Thursday, Jan: 16, 1997 at the Holy Family Hospital, Estherville.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 20 at the First Presbyterian Church, Estherville, with the Pastor Mark Gabbard officiating. Burial was at East Side Cemetery, Estherville.

Fred Nauss was born April 9, 1902 in Iona, Minn., the son of Herman Frederick Nauss and Ann Marie Ehrhardt Haffer. He received his education in the rural country schools.

On Oct. 10, 1929 he married Elvira “Vera” C. Ritterholz in Estherville.

After their marriage, the couple lived and farmed in rural Estherville. Vera died March 9, 1990. After Vera’s death, Fred lived with his daughter, Juanita in Clear Lake, for four years. Fred had been a resident of the Rosewood Manor Care Center in Estherville.
Fred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Estherville.

He is survived by a son, Jerry Nauss and his wife, Sherry, Estherville; daughter, Juanita Leslie and her husband, Walt, Clear Lake; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Edward Nauss, Estherville. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vera; three brothers, Willie, Albert, Carl; two sisters, Ida and Rose Daniels Graff. (Clear Lake Mirror Reporter, Clear Lake, IA, October 20, 1997)
