Mrs. Charles Lungren Dies
Mrs. Charles J. Lungren, 78, native of Sweden and longtime resident of the Estherville community died of a heart attack Tuesday [July 3, 1956] at 11:55 p.m. at the Lungren home, 712 Seventh avenue north. Mrs. Lungren had suffered a heart attack 10 years ago but had recovered and been in good health until recent months.Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow with a family service being held at Sandin Fuhrman chapel at 1:30 p.m. and a service at Union Baptist church at 2 p.m., the Rev. Eugene Olson officiating.
Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman funeral home this afternoon and evening and until time of services tomorrow. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
Annie Peterson was born Sept. 17, 1877 in Sweden and came to the United States in 1885. She was united in marriage to Charles Lungren, Dec. 18, 1895, at Fort Dodge.
Mr. and Mrs. Lungren farmed in Webster county until 1910, at that time moving to Valley Junction, where they lived until coming to the Estherville community in 1911.
They purchased a farm in Estherville township and lived on the farm until retirement and moving to Estherville in 1937.
Mr. and Mrs. Lungren had observed their 60th wedding anniversary last December.
Mrs. Lungren had been a member of Union Baptist church and the church’s Bethel Sunday School class since 1911. She also was a member of the Service Star Legion.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include three sons, Paul and Oscar, both of Estherville, and Reuben of Northfield, Minn., three sisters, Mrs. Louise Johnson and Mrs. Amanda Anderson, both of Gowrie, and Mrs. Helen Johnson of Fort Dodge; a brother, Oscar Peterson of Burnside; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and two sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 5, 1956)
