Her Death Was Sudden
Daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. S. Converse Passes Away
Edith M. Jones, wife of John Jones, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. P. S. Converse of this city, died at her home near Peabody, Kansas, last Thursday morning after an illness of just one week, of Bright’s disease, at the age of 31 years. The remains were brought here and interred in Oak Hill cemetery Saturday afternoon.

The death of Mrs. Jones was a particularly sad one. It was only last Christmas that she was married to Mr. Jones, and they left at once for Kansas, where they took up their home on a ranch eight miles from Peabody.

She enjoyed good health until one week before her death. It was not until Sunday that her condition was deemed serious, when she became unconscious, remaining so until she breathed her last. Mr. and Mrs. P. S. Converse left here on Monday reaching her bedside Wednesday. Death came on Thursday.

While she had resided there but a short time, she had made a host of friends, over 200 attending the funeral on Thursday afternoon. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, July 22, 1903)
