Heart Attack Fatal to Mrs. Lewis Lande

Mrs. Lewis (Annie) Lande, 71, longtime resident of Estherville, died yesterday at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital Mrs. Lande was admitted to the hospital Monday after suffering a heart attack at her home, 215 S. 7th St. The attack on Monday was the first inkling that her family had of a heart ailment bothering her.

Mrs. Lande was born Annie Anderson on Oct. 31, 1885 at Huxley, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Anderson. She received her schooling and grew to young womanhood in that vicinity and at Iowa Falls before coming to Estherville to work.

She was married on Sept. 4, 1904 here in Estherville to Lewis Lande. The couple established their home here and Mrs. Lande has lived here continuously since that time. Mr. Lande worked for the Rock Island Railway for many years before his retirement in 1939. He died Feb. 17, 1945.

Mrs. Lande was a longtime member of the Estherville Lutheran Church.

Surviving her death are four daughters, Mrs. Elwin (Mamie) Bringle, Alma Lande, both of Estherville; Mrs. Max (Ellen) McMillan, Jefferson; and Mrs. John (Catherine) Lehmann of Emmetsburg; four grandchildren and one great grandchild; also three brothers, Ole Anderson of Estherville, Abel Anderson, Iowa Falls; Martin Anderson, Bradford; and two sisters, Mrs. Hardie Lambert, Iowa Falls, and Mrs. Mary Phillips, Dayton, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Friday with a family service at 2:30 p.m. at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home and a church service at 3 p.m. in the Estherville Lutheran Church, the Rev. Theodore Maakestad officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.

Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from tomorrow until time of the services. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 15, 1957)
