Walter Heyer [Hyer] Dies Suddenly
Ruptured Esophagus is Cause of Death
The sudden death Saturday morning of Walter Heyer, four year old son of Mrs. and Mrs. Paul Heyer of Huntington was shown by a post mortem examination to have been caused by a ruptured esophagus. How this was caused is unknown. The child was taken ill Friday afternoon and was brought to the Coleman hospital where he passed away the following morning [September 1, 1934].All of the boy’s short life had been spent near Estherville. He was born here on January 22, 1930. Surviving are his parents and an older brother.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Huntington church and burial was made in Oak Hill cemetery. Pall bearers were Delbert Ellis, Everett Ellis, Henry Otto and Stanley Anderson. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, September 6, 1934)
Obituary of Walter Lloyd Heyer [Hyer]
Walter Lloyd Heyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Heyer, was born January 22, 1930. He was taken sick at his home north of Estherville on Friday, August 31. Saturday, as he seemed worse he was rushed to the Coleman hospital where everything possible was done for him, but he passed away at 10:15 Saturday a.m., September 1, 1934, at the age of four years, seven months and eleven days.Little Walter was the second son. He is survived by his father, mother, and one brother, Ralph, also a host of relatives and friends to mourn his death. His was a happy, carefree nature, which won the love of everyone who knew him. The entire community was shocked to learn of his sudden passing.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Huntington on Tuesday, September 4. Burial was in the Oak Hill cemetery. Rev. Yeager, of Dolliver officiated. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, September 12, 1934)
