Ralph Hornby Passed Away Last Evening in Hospital
Ralph Hornby, 23, son of Mrs. and Mrs. Harry Hornby, passed away last evening at eight-thirty at the Birney Hospital. Sometime ago he became afflicted with a severe case of the flu. He had a relapse and his death is the direct result of the original illness. His condition has been considered serious for the past few days.

Ralph Hornby was married a year ago Christmas to Edna Juhl and they have been residing on the Mrs. Carrie Holmes farm. Ralph was an industrious young man and was always at work. He was a prominent member of the DeMolay Order.

Arrangements for the services have not been fully completed at this time. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, March 1, 1933)

Ralph Hornby Dies Tuesday
Complications From Cold Cause Death
Ralph Hornby, 23, farmer living southeast of Estherville died at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday evening at a local hospital. His death resulted from complications after he had contracted a cold at a sale two months ago. He has been in the Birney hospital for two weeks.

Since the time of his marriage a little more than a year ago, to Miss Edna Juhl, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Juhl, he has lived on the Lyman Holmes farm. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hornby.

Mr. Hornby was a graduate of the local high school in the class of 1927. He was past master councilor of the local Charles E. Keeler Jr. chapter of DeMolay.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Harry Hornby home and at 2 o’clock at the Presbyterian church. The Rev. A. G. Bailey assisted by the Rev. W. A. WinterStein will officiate.

A quartette composed of Mrs. N. H. McKerral, Mrs. Sarah Bennett, Dr. T. C. Mann and Fred Albertson will sing.

Pallbearers will be Einer Christensen, Hogan Hoganson, Edwin Juhl, Glenn Webber, Russell Natterstad, and Harold Howard.

Besides his widow and parents, two sisters, Mrs. J. P. Christensen, of Estherville, and Mrs. H. C. Munson of Omaha, Neb., and a brother, Earl, survive. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, March 2, 1933)
