Services for Harry Hornby to be Friday
Funeral services for Harry Hornby, 76, former Estherville resident, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Methodist church, the Rev. H. Hughes Dill officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. Mr. Hornby died Wednesday [December 2, 1953] morning.

Born Feb. 12, 1877, he was the son of Frank and Evaline Hornby. He married Ida Hasbrook of the Estherville area in 1900.She preceded him in death in1947. On Sept. 15, 1948, he married Tillie Nieman Myers at Princeton, Ill. and has lived there since.

Surviving his death are his wife; a son, Earl of Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. J. P. Christensen of Estherville and Mrs. H. C. Munson of San Bernardino, Claif.; a brother, Richard of Estherville; two sisters, Mrs. Blanch Gorton of Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. Charles Slininger of Ada, Minn.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Hornby’s body will arrive here tomorrow morning. Friends may call at the Sandin funeral home until noon when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state up to the time of services.

Pall bearers will be Andrew Christensen, Peter Geil, Richard Munson, William Clark, Belva Ross and Kenneth West. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 3, 1953)

Hornby Rites to Be Held on Saturday
Funeral services for Harry Hornby, former Estherville resident, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Methodist church rather than today as erroneously reported in the Daily News yesterday. Mr. Hornby’s body will arrive from Princeton, Ill., this morning. Friends may call at the Sandin funeral home until noon tomorrow at which time his body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of services. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery.
