Mrs. Eveline Hornby Passed Away Monday
Mrs. Eveline [Harrison] Hornby passed away at her home on the West Side of the river on Monday last. Mrs. Hornby was born on December 21, 1853, at Wyanet, Ill. She with her husband who passed away in 1915, came to this county about thirty-seven years ago. They engaged in farming.

The Hornby family has been well known in this county for many years. Three of the sons still reside here. The family is known as a thrifty, painstaking family and they were highly regarded by all who knew them. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, January 3, 1934)

Mrs. Hornby, 80, Passes Away
Dies After Illness of 3 Months
Mrs. Evaline Hornby, 80, died at 11:45 last night after an illness which has kept her bedfast for three months.

Mrs. Hornby was born in Wyanet, Ill. She and her husband moved to a farm east of Estherville 37 years ago. Since the death of her husband, 15 years ago, she has lived in Estherville.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Blanche Gorton of Pasadena, Calif., Mrs. Charles Slininger [Sliniger] of Twin Valley, Minn., and Mrs. Guy Stearns of Grand Meadow, Minn., and three sons, Richard, Harry and Burton, all of Estherville.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been complete. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 2, 1934)

Hornby Rites Are Tomorrow
Will Be Held in the M.E. Church
Funeral services for Mrs. Evaline Hornby, 80, who died at 11:45 p.m. Monday at her home on the West side will be held tomorrow in the Methodist church. The Rev. F. W. Ortmeyer will have charge of the services. Short rites at 1:30 in the Mahlum and Anderson funeral chapel will precede the church service. Burial will be in the Oak Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Hornby is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Blanche Gorton of Pasadena, Calif., Mrs. Charles Slininger of Twin Valley, Minn., and Mrs. Guy Stearns of Grand Meadows, Minn., and three sons, Richard, Harry and Burton, all of Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 3, 1934)
