Mrs. Charles Hite Called by Death
Funeral Services Were Held Last Sunday; Burial at Oak Hill
Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Hite, 63 years old, who died here on May 13, were held Sunday afternoon at the Hite home. Burial was made in the Oak Hill cemetery. The Rev. P. A. Davies of the Presbyterian church, of which Mrs. Hite was a member, had charge of the services.

Miss Harriet Rosamond Coleman was born in Bureau County, Ill., on Dec. 12, 1864. She attended school and grew to young womanhood in her old home town. When she was 17 years old she came to Marshall County, Iowa, to live. In 1876 she was married to Charles Hite of Newton. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Julia Grace Frank, who lives on the old home place southwest of town, and James Lester Hite, who preceded his mother in death by some 13 years.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hite came to Emmet County in 1899. After farming for nine years Mr. Hite died in the year 1908 [1909]. Upon his death, Mrs. Hite returned to Illinois and spent six years there caring for her aged father. Then she returned to Estherville and this has been her home ever since.

Besides the daughter named above she is survived by five sisters and one brother. They are the following: Mrs. M. N. Strine and Mrs. O. M. Van Ormer, both of Geddes, S. Dak.; Mrs. R. F. Lathrop of Glidden; Mrs. Julia Caskey, LaSalle, ill.; and Mrs. George Pillman of Manilus, Ill. The brother, who at present is near death at the hospital in Rochester, Minn., is Jerome Cole [Coleman] of Glidden. There are six grandchildren.

Mrs. Hite was a member of the Rebecca Lodge of Estherville. For many years she had been a faithful member of the Presbyterian church, working in the West Band. She took a course in nursing and for several years had done work as a practical nurse. Her faithfulness to her home and her duties made for her many friends. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, May 18, 1927)
