Emil Hoffman Dies at Home in Estherville
Emil Hoffman, 74, of Estherville, died Wednesday [July 10, 1946] morning at his home. Mrs. Ted Munsterman is the only daughter. (Terril Record, Terril, IA, July 11, 1946)Emil Hoffman Laid to Rest Sunday
Emil M. Hoffman, 74, died shortly after 9 o’clock Wednesday morning at 421 N. 4th street. He had been ill for four months with cancer.Mr. Hoffman was born Jan. 4, 1872, at Sheepstead, Germany, and came to the United States when he was 21 years old. He came to the Estherville community at that time and lived here his entire life.
He was married Sept. 9, 1910 to Anna Anderson in Estherville. He took his apprenticeship training here and became a cabinet maker.
He was a member of the Knight of Pythias lodge.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, Roy of Mason City, Clarence and Vern of Estherville and one daughter, Mrs. Ted Munsterman, Terril. Another son, Walter, died in 1939. Two sisters still in Germany, also survive.
Funeral services were held at the Christian Church at Estherville Sunday afternoon with the Rev. Sawyer in charge. Burial was in the Oakhill cemetery. (Terril Record, Terril, IA, July 18, 1946)
