At the Home for Louis Hintz Who Passed Away At Iowa City After A Long Illness
Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon for Louis Hintz, who passed away on Sunday [July 19, 1942] afternoon at the hospital in Iowa City from heart complications. The funeral will be at 2:30 at the Hintz home.

Rev. Fred Sawyer officiated in the absence of Rev. Fred Ortmeyer, who is in the hospital at Iowa City.

Pallbearers for the service were James Rainey, Pearl Butson, Bert Shirley, Dundar Paulson, Roy Broadie, C. P. Ostheimer and the burial was in Oakhill cemetery.

Louis Hintz was born on June 15, 1879 at Kellogg, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hintz. He and his parents moved to Estherville in 1892 when he was thirteen years old. Here he and his father ran a meat market. In October 1919, he was married to Helen Blank. To this union were born two children, Fred and Doris, now Mrs. Lester Larsen.

He has lived on a farm east of Estherville for several years.

He has been in poor health for several months. He was in the Park View Clinic for three months and was released for seven weeks and then was sent to Iowa City, where he died.

Mr. Hintz will be remembered by his many friends as a kindly and generous gentleman. He was a member of the Methodist church and was considered a good Christian. Those who knew and loved him will miss his presence which was always welcome wherever he went.

He preceded his widow, a son, Fred of Savannah, Illinois and his daughter, Mrs. Lester Larsen of Wallingford in death.

Fred arrived home to attend his father’s funeral but expects to return to Savannah this week. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, July 23, 1942)
