George W. Heyman Dies at Hospital
George W. Heyman, 85, resident of Estherville for more than 40 years, died Saturday [June 18, 1966] at 12:15 p.m. at Holy Family Hospital.

Mr. Heyman had been in failing health for the past three years. His death was attributed to infirmities of old age.

Mr. Heyman came to Estherville in 1920 and had lived here since that time with the exception of five years. During that time he and Mrs. Heyman lived for two years at Fairbury, Neb., one year at Cedar Rapids, and two years at Kansas City, Mo., before returning to Estherville.

George William Heyman was born Nov. 26, 1880, at Palestine, Tex., the son of Harry and Jennie Heyman. He received his elementary education in Palestine and graduated from high school at Trinidad, Colo.

He was married May 2, 1899, to Alvina M. Miller at Raton, N.M. Mr. Heyman was employed by the C.R.I. & P. Railway and he and Mrs. Heyman lived in various towns before coming to Estherville. He retired as a railroad official in 1940.

He was a member of the city council and during World War II he had charge of the scrap drive.

He was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church; a member of North Star Lodge No. 447, A.F. & A.M.; Knights Templars, Past Patron of Eastern Star, Past Watchman of the Shepherds of the White Shrine, and past exalted ruler of the Elks.

Mr. Heyman is survived by his wife; a son, George R. Heyman of Dunnell, Minn.; daughter, Mrs. M. O. (Getrude) Monroe of Sioux City; a granddaughter, Mrs. Robert (JoAnn Heyman) Cory of Rochester, Minn.; and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother, and one grandson, Robert Heyman.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Furhman Funeral Home, Rev. Robert -feld officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.

Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services.

Honorary pallbearers will be O. E. Morton, Lloyd, Anderson, Harry Simpson, Robert Knight, Arnold Mouritsen, and H. Sorensen.

Active pallbearers are Robert Griffith, John Rugtiv, Walter B. Hammer, C. W. Robinson, Clyde Sanborn, and Lester Sidles. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 20, 1966)
