Was Early Settler at Huntington; Leaves Seven Children – Funeral Services are Held Today
William Hyer, 68, resident of Emmet county for 30 years, died Saturday morning at Iowa City where he had been receiving medical aid for nineteen days.Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at the church at Huntington with the Rev. Carver of Dilliver officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery in Estherville.
William Andrew Hyer was born in Knoxville, Marion county, Sept. 13, 1866. He came to this county 30 years ago and resided on a farm near Huntington.
He is preceded in death by his wife who died two years ago. He is survived by five sons, Ernest, Warren, Paul, Ray and Earl, and two daughters, Mrs. William Otto and Mrs. Lee Schultz, all of this community. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, January 22, 1935)
Funeral Services for William Andrew Hyer [Heyer] Held Tuesday
Funeral services for William Andrew Hyer, who died Saturday morning at an Iowa City hospital, were held Tuesday afternoon. A short prayer service was held at the Sternborg Chapel and at two o’clock services were held in the Huntington church, the Rev. Craver, of Dolliver, officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.Mr. Hyer was 68 years of age. He was born September 13, 1866, in Knoxville, Iowa, and died at the University hospital at Iowa City last Saturday. He is survived by five sons and two daughters. His wife preceded him in death three years ago. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, January 23, 1935)
