W. G. Hangartner, 62, for twenty-five years a citizen of Emmet county, passed away at the Coleman hospital last Thursday [October 8, 1936] after an illness of long duration.

Mr. Hangartner has been a prominent citizen of this county and his friends were numbered by his acquaintances. Always pleasant and agreeable and always considerate of his friends and those he came in contact with.

He was born in Wisconsin in September, 1874, and was united in marriage in 1899. They moved from Wisconsin directly to a farm near Huntington where he has resided for years.

The funeral services were held on Monday from the Mahlum & Anderson funeral home, the Rev. Arthur G. Bailey and Mr. Hangartner’s old time friend the Rev. Horbert Marsh of Spirit Lake officiating. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery.

The deceased leaves to mourn his death, two daughters, Mrs. Verna Janssen of Dunnell, Minn., and Mrs. Cecil Oulman of this city. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, October 15, 1936)
