Laura Gilbreath Dies Saturday
Mrs. Laura Louise Gilbreath, 91, Estherville, died late Saturday [October 9, 1971] night at Holy Family Hospital.She was born Nov. 17, 1887 [1879], in Chicago, Ill., to Albert and Marie Mosher. She received her education in the Chicago schools.
On Jan. 20, 1897, she was married to Joseph Homer at Denver, Colo. He died in December, 1898.
In July, 1901, she was married to Guy Gilbreath in Chicago. They lived in Chicago, Cripple Creek, Colo., and Seneca, Ill., and then moved to Estherville in 1910.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Wilbur R. Thorndyke, Estherville; two granddaughters, Mrs. James R. (Lorraine) Ramsey, Grand Island, Neb.; and Mrs. Loyle M. (Maurita) Mason, Sioux City; three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, her parents, an infant brother and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home at Estherville with the Rev. Richard Pearson officiating.
Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Furhman Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are James R. Ramsey, Loyal M. Mason, Craig S. Ramsey, Steven D. Brodine, Kenneth L. Steveson and Harry C. Berchenbriter. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 11, 1971)
