Former Milford Boy Dies in Colorado
Funeral services were held for Keogh Estey of Des Moines Wednesday afternoon at the Christian church in Estherville, the Rev. Sawyer officiating. Burial was at the Oak Hill cemetery at Estherville.

The following obituary was read:

Keogh Estey, son of the late B. D. and Elsie Estey, was born July 27, 1900 at Milford, Iowa, where his early boyhood was spent. At the age of 10 years Keogh accompanied his parents to Madison, Nebraska and following one year’s residence there the family returned to Iowa, locating at Jamaica where Keogh grew to manhood. At the age of 22 years he went to Des Moines as a linotype operator for the Des Moines Register and Tribune.

On November 4, 1925 he was united in marriage with Miss Hazel Danielson in the city of Des Moines, where they made their home.

About a year ago Mr. Estey began suffering from poor health. Though he was under a doctor’s care, he continued working. In February of this year, upon the advice of his physician and because of continued poor health, Keogh went to the Union Printer’s Home at Colorado Springs, Colorado, for observation and treatment. Upon examination and x-ray it was discovered that he had a cancerous condition which could not be treated and he remained in the Home until death claimed him July 29, just two days after his 39th birthday.

He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and three children, Shirley, Jerry and Jacqulene, his mother, Mrs. Elsie Estey and his only brother, Albert, all of Des Moines.

Mr. Estey was a member of two fraternal organizations, namely the Typographical Union and the Union church of Jamaica, with which he united in his youth. (Milford Mail, Milford, IA, August 3, 1939)
