Wayne C. Currell Dies Monday A.M.
Wayne C. Currell, 66, prominent Estherville banker, died at Holy Family Hospital in Estherville early Monday [December 28, 1959] morning from a heart attack. Funeral services were held at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville Wednesday afternoon.

Mr. Currell not only owned controlling interest in the Emmet County Bank in Estherville but was also president of the First National Bank in Spirit Lake and a branch bank in Ringsted. He was a veteran of World War I and established the Estherville bank in 1927.

He was a member of the First Methodist church with service on the official board and was chairman of the parsonage building committee. Mr. Currell is a past president of the Estherville chamber of commerce, served as Red Cross chairman, was a member of the Holy Family hospital advisory board and a member of several service organizations.

He is survived by his widow, Marguerite, and three sons: Charles R. and James of Estherville and Robert L. of Spirit Lake., and two grandsons. He was preceded in death by two sons, his parents and three brothers.

Interment was in Oak Hill cemetery in Estherville. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, December 31, 1959)
