Mrs. Brown Had Passed 71st Year
Mrs. Martha Lucinda Brown, wife of Edwin E. Brown, passed away Thursday night, Oct. 11, at the home of her son, Arthur E. in this city, after a lingering illness. She was 71 years old at the time of her passing. Mrs. Brown had been a resident of Estherville for 47 years, coming here with her husband from Boone, Iowa, in 1881, making the trip here with team and wagon.

Martha Lucinda Goodwin was born at Boone on June 15, 1857, and made that place her home until her marriage on Dec. 22, 1877. She is well known in this city which has been her home for so many years and hundreds regret her passing. She is survived by her aged husband, five children, Arthur E., Charles M., Roy J., all of Estherville, Mrs. Stella M. Brickson of Aurelia, Iowa and Mabel L. Davis of Sioux Falls, So. Dak., fifteen grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Arthur Brown home, Rev. Frank Yearnd of the Union Baptist church in charger. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, October 17, 1928)
